Belleville Chapter

Belleville Chapter of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario was formed in or about 1962. Donald Hickson, CGA, was the new chapter’s first chair—or secretary as the chapter chair was referred to at the time.

Today, Belleville Chapter is recognized for its ability to join forces with its neighbouring chapters to offer continuing professional development and networking events. No doubt this desire to share expertise with it neighbours is entrenched in the chapter’s unique history. Not only was Belleville Chapter one of the Association’s inaugural chapters, it also has the distinction of the most name changes. From Belleville (1962) to Belleville-Peterborough (1964), back to Belleville (1965), to Belleville-Kingston (1974) and finally back to Belleville Chapter proper in 1976.
