Sudbury Chapter

Sudbury Chapter

Sudbury is known for its Big Nickel and its thriving mineral-based industries. As a major Canadian industrial hub, it is no surprise that CGA Ontario Sudbury Chapter was the first chapter established in northern Ontario. Bill Burnes, CGA, was elected as the first chapter chair in 1964.

Geographically, Sudbury Chapter encompasses a vast area of Ontario’s northern frontier. Stretching from Sudbury proper in the south to James Bay in the north, it includes the towns and cities of Kapuskasing, Moose Factory and Timmins. The chapter’s membership is employed in a wide variety of fields, including public accounting, government and of course, mining and industry. From its early beginnings, today Sudbury Chapter’s membership now includes approximately 200 CGAs and 80 students.
